Many people enjoy the benefits of weight benches in gyms around the world, but few actually have one in their own home. Most likely the biggest reason for this is because of a lack of space – perhaps the apartment life doesn’t support having a weight training bench in the unit. But what if there was an option to use the weight bench only when you need it and then easily store it when you don’t?
This is the advantage presented with folding weight benches. You can easily pull your folding weight bench when you are ready to do your weight bench exercises, and then quickly fold it up and store in a closet or storage space when you are not using it. Exercise when you want, enjoy your space when you want with a foldable weight bench.
Types of Folding Weight Benches
There are several common types of fold up weight benches available for purchase. But the two most common types are flat weight benches and adjustable weight bench. Flat weight benches are very simple in structure, lightweight, and inexpensive. These benches are commonly used for simple weight lifting exercises, such as bench pressing, leg curling, and arm curling. They are also commonly used for exercises using regular or adjustable dumbbells that help strengthen the back, shoulders and abdominal area. The adjustable weight bench, on the other hand, takes the flat weight bench to an entirely new level, offering more variety of exercises that can be done – most notably tummy crunches and other abdomen-focused workouts. You can also provide greater back support while doing leg exercises, including knee crunches because an adjustable incline weight bench allows you to incline or decline a portion of the weight lifting bench.
Selecting the Right Weight Bench
When choosing the right weight bench and other weight lifting equipment for your exercise routine, consider the types of exercises you want to do most often, as well as the pros and cons of each type. You will almost certainly find the theme of portable weight benches appeals to many, and as such, the materials used to construct them are light weight, making for easier transportation and moving into storage. Make a visit to your local department store and look at the different benches available – try them out and see which makes you feel most comfortable. Look for things like height adjustments, especially if you are a taller person. Also consider how much room you have at home. Take some measurements of your exercise space and compare to the various benches on the market.
